Beachin it with The Raynor Family

Last Wednesday, Matt, Carly, Grey & Cam made the 3+ hour trek from Chapel Hill to Myrtle Beach to spend part of their vacation with us.  We were fortunate to be able to stay in Granny Sledge's beach house during our time together since our house might have been a little tight with all of us here.  This also allowed room for my parents to come one night and plenty of things for the kids to do.  We spent a lot of time on the beach since we were so blessed with gorgeous weather.  The boys (G&C) loved playing in the sand and the water temperature didn't deter them from splashing around in that either.  Drew had a good time just napping in his pea pod on the beach.  We also took a trip to a local park where Grey and Cam were more intrigued by how dirty they could get in the black sand than they were with the park swings, etc.  After getting good and dirty, they went back to the house for lunch and beach time before naps.  We also drove up to the farm one morning where the boys went on a short nature walk and got to ride around in the "rhino" and look at the farm.  We left there and went to the gym so the boys could run their hearts out before nap time.  Grey LOVED the gym and ran back and forth across the floor 50 times......they both bounced on the tumble track and trampolines and got the courage to jump in the pit.  When we weren't on a 'field trip' or on the beach, the boys enjoyed bubbles in the yard, playing with their cars and balls inside or hanging out with Liza and Margaret.  Liza was SO good with the boys and it will be fun to watch all these kids interact as they get older.  Margaret didn't hesitate to hug and kiss the boys goodbye.  Matt, Carly, David and I did get a dinner out Friday night thanks to Mom and Dad taking care of all three boys. I think Dad held Drew the entire time and Mom wrangled Grey & Cam through playtime and bedtime.  We went to Aspen Grill and enjoyed an incredible meal.....my mouth is watering just thinking about it.  The Raynor clan left Saturday afternoon and David and I decided to stick around through Sunday.  We had a relaxing Saturday night and such a great, relaxing Sunday.  We couldn't ask for better weather the entire time and really enjoyed being together with both sides of our family.  Here are a few pictures from the week.....all of them can be found at www.littleboydrew.shutterfly.com

Catching Up...

Life with a baby is busy!  I don't really feel like I do anything major but my days sure do fly by!!  Quite a few weeks have passed since my last post and Drew is growing like a weed!  We have managed quite nicely if I do say so myself.  Drew is a sweet and good baby and sleeps well most of the time.  He has his fussy times (which seem to change daily) but they aren't long-winded (yet) and usually he is either hungry or has a dirty diaper.  Easy fixes in my book!  Outside of the normal day-to-day activities (eat, poop, sleep) we have gotten out quite a bit for some fun.

We continue to have visitors....not nearly as many as the first two weeks but we do get people stopping by to see Drew on a regular basis.  Brent and Mary brought Emma Gray & Price down here one Friday night and we all went to Fun Gym.  EG & Price had never seen our gym and that had a ball jumping, running, flipping and swinging.  We also celebrated Bop's (Steve) birthday on the 28th of February with a nice dinner at Aspen Grill.  He said it was the best birthday with all of his kids and grandkids with him.

The next day I had my 4-week postpartum doctor's appointment and I was happy to hear that I had lost 1 pound MORE than I gained while being pregnant.  Yay breastfeeding!  I ventured into the gym random nights with Drew (and occasionally without) to visit and get some of my pent-up coaching out of my system.  Edyie has a crib set up in her office and loves watching Drew so getting back into work a little bit might not be the hardest of transitions.  Let's see.....We (including Drew) went over to the Hughes household for dinner one night and got to visit with Megan & Lily James the next day.

We celebrated Bekah Wallace's birthday with dinner at Enoodle one night.

We've shopped, taken pictures (shocker), taken a walk (me with both dogs and Drew), sat on the porch in the beautiful weather and did my first Lowe's To Go experience. WHICH, by the way, was awesome.  I ordered $94 worth of stuff online and picked my "pick up" time for the next day.  Kelly informed me of a deal that week where you could buy Bounty paper towels and Charmin TP and get an additional 15cents off each gallon of gas (on top of what you've already accumulated).  The day I was supposed to pick my stuff up, my "personal shopper" called me to tell me they were out of something I wanted and we worked that out.....then I got an email when my order was ready.  I pulled up, rang a bell, and she came out and loaded my car.  She swiped my credit card right then at my car and somehow I got $10 off my order.....so my total was $84 AND I got 25 cents off each gallon of gas!  For $4.95 (the charge for the online shopping), I came out ahead in my opinion.  Mainly because I didn't have to drag Drew out of the car and I was home in less than 20 minutes.

On Thursday of this past week, David and I went to Whiteville to see Granny Sledge.  Drew is her 12th great grandchild and I'm glad we got there to see her.

On Friday, McKenzies Mill came to town to play at The Boathouse.  The boys came over to meet the kiddo before heading down to do sound check on Friday.  Alex, Becky, Nic & Kileigh were also in town so they came over Friday evening and we went to Boom Boom's Raw Bar for dinner.

After dinner, David and I got our mess together enough to leave Drew for a few hours with my mom so we could go watch MM play.  I hadn't seen them live in quite a while and they were awesome as usual.

Saturday, Mom, Drew and I ran some errands before going to Hoskins for lunch with the boys (MM) before they got on the road to Nashville.  We went back home shortly after that and hung out on the porch in the GORGEOUS weather and watched basketball.  Mom went home later that afternoon and David and I ordered pizza and watched Sling Blade.

Sunday (today) is Soo Soo's birthday, so the family met up at Waterscapes at the Marina Inn for lunch.  It was such a nice lunch with everyone and Drew was a trooper through it all.  The rest of the day for Drew and me involved napping (for Drew), basketball (bummer), cooking and blogging for me.  Bekah & Shane just left after coming over to share our dinner with us.  I love cooking but don't often love 4 days of the same leftovers when the casserole recipe could feed a small army.  So sharing meals with great friends is a no brainer.  For the most part, that is what we've been up to the past month.

We've got a lot to look forward to in the coming month as well....My brother, Carly & the boys are coming this week and we are all staying at the beach house together, St. Patricks Day (no plans for that), heading to Southern Pines, heading to Charlotte/Rock Hill for my girls' State Meet, Charleston for the Bridge Run (not running...don't judge), my birthday, Easter, Tampa for Level 9/10 regionals and Shelburne & Liz's wedding at the end of April.  A lot of traveling but not too far with the exception of Tampa.....I haven't worked out the details of that yet, but definitely want to go and will figure something out for Drew and I to be able to go.  Maybe mom wants a weekend away???  I would ask David but I think he has a bachelor party planned for Shelburne that weekend......

On the gymnastics front, I'm still working from home doing administrative work and pop into the gym occasionally (like I mentioned above).  I want to work my way back in there a little more often but am truly enjoying my time with Drew.  I do miss traveling to meets but can't imagine how worn out I would be if i was doing it right now.  Our two seniors have committed to compete in college.....Emma, our Level 9 Senior, will be attending Ithaca College.  Courtney, our Level 10 Senior, will be joining the NC State Wolfpack gymnastics team.  We also have a junior Level 10 that has verbally committed to a full gymnastics scholarship to Arizona State University.  Our girls are competing well this year and I'm looking forward to the next two weeks leading into their State Meet.

SO...with that, I'm done....I should probably blog more often so I don't have to write dissertations every time.  Here are some cute pics of Drew....for more, visit www.littleboydrew.shutterfly.com
