Memorial Day is always a fun weekend.....Of course I remember the reason for the holiday and am very grateful for all of those who have served, are serving and especially those who gave their lives' in our military so that we have the freedom that we do. I don't know that I can fathom the pain that some people feel on Memorial Day. So a huge THANKS to all those who defend our country on a daily basis and to their families who wait patiently for them to get home.
Last week Drew had some special visitors....Rifton & Janice came over to the house to get their hands on Drew. It was a nice afternoon chatting with them and Drew was spoiled with kisses and hugs the whole time. So sweet. Wednesday night, Kelly, Whitney & Bekah came over for burgers and once again, Drew got passed around and loved all over. He sure does love some cuddles and kisses!
This weekend, in a nutshell, was busy but fun. Friday night, David, Drew & I went to Tony's for some good ole pizza. Came home, watched TV and went to bed. Oh the life of new parents. Saturday, we dabbled around the house until after Drew's morning nap. Then we grabbed sandwiches and went over to Steve & Julia's house for the rest of the afternoon. We laid out on the dock while Drew slept in his tent, we cooled off inside for a bit then went out on the boat. We got Drew a life jacket for his summer adventures on the water and it looked hilarious on him! But it is effective and safe and required for his little fanny to be on a boat.
We left their house, came home and had a repeat of Friday night except we ate something I had cooked in the crock pot all day. Hallelujah for crock pots. Sunday, we made our way to the beach house after stopping for lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise (One of our favorite stops when we make the 20 minute "trek" to the beach house). We hung out by the pool at the beach house and played with Liza, Margaret & Kathleen. We all celebrated Jen's birthday that night with some delicious food courtesy of Curry. My parents came into town and enjoyed dinner with us before heading back to our house in Little River.
Monday we walked down to the waterfront for lunch at Patio's, then ran a few errands before my parents got back on the road to Southern Pines. The nature of our holiday weekends sure have changed with an almost-4-month old but the fun is just the same!
